Unified Communications is Emerging as a Strategic Tool to Accelerate Business Growth, IDC Takes an In-depth Look

<p>Sydney, 30 April 2008, As organisations around the world look for ways to improve business process efficiencies and address carbon footprint consumption, it has become clear that Unified Communications is a key technology that can achieve their goals.</p>
<p>IDC’s Unified Communications Event on 13th May will explore how an enterprise can bridge the current chasm of disparate communication applications and systems that do not interoperate and multiple devices that represent separate communication modes.</p>
<p>CIOs are under increasing pressure to ensure that communication applications and equipment are aligned with business processes. Unified Communications holds the promise of meeting many communications needs in a comprehensive manner.</p>
<p>“Business communication is on the cusp of a new era in which it will play a central role in helping information workers deliver with speed and accuracy. Unified communications transforms commonplace business applications into smart intuitive collaborative environments for instant decision-making and fast turnaround,” said David Cannon, Programme Manager, Telecommunications at IDC.</p>
<p>“The new industry focus on unified communications resonates with the need for a flexible and cost effective solution that leverages new technologies and communication devices,” concluded Cannon.</p>
<p>Highlights of the conference include,
* David Cannon, IDC Program Manager, Telecommunications, will address the current state of the IP Telephony adoption in Australia, macro economic business inhibiting issues and where unified comms will take us in the future as the consumerisation of technology becomes reality.
* An end-user case study by George Lymbers, CIO of The Anglican Church.</p>
