Network Appliance has announced the appointment of Mark Heers as Director, Marketing and Alliances, Australia and New Zealand. He takes responsibility for all NetApp marketing activities and alliance relationships in these markets and is based in Sydney.

He was previously EMC’s National Product Manager for the same markets.

Announcing the appointment, Simon Green Network Appliance Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, said the role was a newly created one within his operation and reflected the company’s emphasis on market awareness of the ease of use – “the abolition of complexity” – that marks the company’s commitment to its customers. He added, “We are delighted to have Mark join our ranks. His considerable experience of the storage market is exactly suited to the new, higher level marketing role our status now warrants.”

Prior to his four years with EMC, Mark Heers spent nine years with the Amdahl / Fujitsu succession and two years with IBM. He was also an in-house IT professional for six years, with the Australian Federal Police.

In August 2003, Mark Heers was elected inaugural chairperson of the Australian and New Zealand affiliate of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), an international standards body committed to ensuring that storage networks become efficient, complete and trusted solutions across the IT community, for the benefit of all users. NetApp is one of 300 company and corporate SNIA members, worldwide.
