The MSI PS63 is an amazing laptop and I would definitely consider buying one in the future.

Oct. 7, 2003 – Altiris, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATRS), a leader in systems management solutions that reduce the total cost of owning information technology, today announced that the new Altiris® 6.0 agent is now available for use by Altiris customers running Altiris Notification Server 5.5 SP3. This new Altiris agent provides new functionality for immediate implementation and will assist in assuring successful customer rollouts of the forthcoming Altiris 6.0 upgrade.

Functions such as language localization, more secure client-server communications, a smaller client memory footprint and improved bandwidth management help Altiris customers provide more efficient and secure IT lifecycle management for global implementations of IT assets, including PCs, servers, thin clients and mobile devices.

Scott Read, network analyst for a large, state government agency, is tasked with managing hundreds of WAN locations, from central administrative sites to numerous maintenance facilities with nothing more than dial-up connectivity. Read is rolling out Altiris® Client Management Suite™ for centralized, remote management of hardware and software assets, fifty percent of which utilize low-bandwidth, remote connections.

Read said, “We are deploying the Altiris 6.0 agent concurrently with Altiris Notification Server 5.5 SP3 to take advantage of advanced features such as dynamic bandwidth management and more secure client-server communications. These features will be critical to management of our remote locations and will help us keep our systems even more secure, ultimately driving down the cost of IT management. Furthermore, utilizing the new Altiris agent will allow us to more smoothly transition to the upcoming Altiris 6.0 upgrade through an efficient, phased rollout.”

Bill Uncapher, Pacific Blue Micro president, went on to say, “As business computing is pushed to the fringe of the network, our clients are asking for an IT lifecycle management solution that accommodates the needs of an increasingly diverse and remote workforce. The new Altiris 6.0 agent provides extensive language localization, dynamic bandwidth management and added security features that our client base requires for advanced IT management.”

Founded in 1982, Pacific Blue Micro (PBM) is a nationwide provider of integrated IT solutions and services. PBM delivers practical, cost-effective solutions that help organizations align their internal IT support systems with their business objectives.
Poul Nielsen, Altiris VP of marketing and product strategy, went on to say, “Altiris is working closely with valued customers and strategic partners to ensure the success of the Altiris 6.0 release, the most significant Altiris version update in two years. As the workhorse of any client systems management environment, we understand that our customers require access to the latest agent functionality as soon as possible to plan efficient roll-outs and rapidly take advantage of the Altiris capabilities to help further reduce the cost IT management and provide more secure IT systems.”

When integrated with the soon-to-be-released, next-generation Altiris Notification Server and console, the Altiris 6.0 infrastructure will provide additional remote manageability in addition to new and improved features of the Altiris 6.0 agent such as:
• New localization detects 17 different languages of the end-user’s system
• More secure client-server communications via https
• Improved bandwidth management provides download options based on network connection speed
• Customizable user interface
• Smaller memory footprint
