Microsoft Unveils New Small Business Portal

 • 24 March, 2004 08:45

Provides Resources and Support for Australian Small Businesses

Sydney, Australia – 24 March, 2004 – Microsoft Australia today launched the Microsoft Small Business Centre - a dedicated portal that provides a single location where small businesses can easily access the resources and support needed to improve business operations and enhance communication with customers, partners and suppliers.

“Research indicates small businesses spend the majority of their time focused on the daily issues of running a small business be it cash flow, the acquisition and retention of customers and better time management. While small businesses recognise the importance of information technology, they find it difficult to make it a top priority or area of focus,” said Kevin Burke, Microsoft Australia’s small business group manager. “The goal of the Microsoft Small Business Centre is to provide a quick and easy-to-use portal with resources and information that helps small businesses use IT to help improve the efficiency and competitiveness of their business.”

In addition to Australia, the Microsoft Small Business Centre will be launched in Japan, Canada and the United Kingdom. This will be followed by France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United States later this year.

Importantly, the Microsoft Small Business Centre has been localised to ensure Australia’s small businesses are getting information that is germane to doing business in Australia. Small businesses can take advantage of the following resources:

Content & tools: This includes advice-oriented articles and information that help improve sales and marketing effectiveness and tips on using the Internet to extend channels to market.
Newsletters: Regular communications packed with information tailored to the needs of small business owners and managers.
Localised content: Customer stories, templates, events, feature articles and access to local promotions.
Product advice: Information on Microsoft products most relevant to each customer's unique business needs, including products like Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003, Microsoft Windows® Small Business Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows XP.
Connecting tool: Tips on how to easily connect with Microsoft partners that are specialists in IT solutions for small businesses.

As part of its strategy to provide the resources and information that small businesses need, Microsoft will migrate the content from its successful bCentral™ small business resources portal to the Microsoft Small Business Centre. This content includes specialised information on small business management, sales and marketing tools.

“With the recent launches of Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003 and Microsoft Australia’s Office Online, the Microsoft Small Business Centre signals Microsoft’s commitment to deliver the right products, solutions and services to small businesses,” said Mr Burke.

Microsoft Small Business Centre is available at http://www.microsoft.com/australia/smallbusiness.

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
