Sydney, 22 March 2004 - Acer Computer Australia has today announced the introduction of a new mobile entertainment centre, the Acer Aspire 2000. The combination of power, extended battery life and multimedia capabilities make the Aspire 2000 the ideal entertainment traveling companion.

The Acer Aspire 2000 features innovative software developed to enhance the user experience. The Acer Aspire media suite, the entertainment hub of the notebook, supports DVD playback, picture viewing, music playback, CD & DVD burning as well as video editing. “Instant-on” mode allows users to play DVDs and music without requiring the notebook to be booted into Windows, saving time and making the Acer Aspire 2000 perfectly at home in the lounge room.

“The Aspire 2000 notebook stands out from other widescreen notebooks because of the compelling and unique features of the Acer Aspire media suite. ‘Instant On' is supported for DVD and music playback as well as picture viewing. In Windows mode, Aspire Arcade integrates these and other functions such as DVD Burning and Video Editing, making the product advanced but very easy to use,” said Lindsay Tobin, Product Manager.

The stylish and easy to use Acer Aspire 2000 features a 15.4-inch wide screen with 16:10 wide-aspect viewing ratio providing 60% to 120% wider viewing angles than standard notebooks. With a screen display 25% brighter than regular notebooks (a minimum of 185 nits ultra brightness), the Aspire 2000 is ideal for users wanting a true cinematic experience and panoramic views. The widescreen enables the viewing of multiple documents simultaneously to enhance work productivity and ease of use. Moreover, the ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 9200 graphics chipset featuring 64MB of dedicated video memory adds brilliant graphics to the panoramic view.

The Acer Aspire 2000 comes complete with virtual surround sound to earphones as well as built-in 2.1 speakers and subwoofer to further enhance users’ entertainment experience.

The Acer Aspire 2000 utilises Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology with the 855PM chipset, and a high-capacity Li-ion battery pack to deliver up to 6 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, ‘anytime, anywhere’ wireless connectivity is made easier with integrated WLAN and Bluetooth technology.
