Hinch vs underworld stoush finds a home on Facebook

Picking on the dead or terminally ill? Shame, Shame Shame.

After an on-air stoush with underworld identity Mick Gatto on his 3AW radio station, famed keeper of the 'Shame' file Derryn Hinch has become the subject of a Facebook group titled "DERRYN HINCH IS A SCUMBAG".

Created by Damien Gatto, the group had garnered some 322 members when Computerworld visited the page today, along with 31 wall posts.

The description of the group is as follows: "This group is for those who are sick of this f***ing idiot and his trouble making opinions."

According to The Age, the creation of the group came as a result of Hinch attacking the recent celebrity status the Underbelly TV show had thrust upon Melbourne's underworld figures, including Mick Gatto.

In response to Hinch's tirade, Gatto phoned into the program telling Hinch he had a punching bag at home with his name on it.

"If burning you is my job in life, I'll be more than happy to do it. I think you and all your ilk and all your mob and the Carlton Crew and the Carl Williamses of this world, you are all scum," Hinch responded.

Gatto said he wished Hinch, who is suffering from cirrhosis of the liver, would go to his grave very quickly.

The Facebook group has attracted supporters of Gatto, and a few who seem to have jumped on the bandwagon for no apparent reason.

"Did Derryn do something recently? The last time I saw him on TV was in that stupid commercial for All Bran. Has something triggered the formation of this group?" asked the latest member of the group to post on the Wall.

"Sounds like the old man is very desperate for ratings," said another, while others claimed Hinch showed no respect to deceased people like David Hookes, Graham Kennedy and Clinton Grybas, and therefore deserved no respect in his own fight with life threatening illness.

Thats life.
