FreeRunner Linux phone sells out, more on the way

Who said nobody would buy a Linux phone?

Less than one week after going on sale via its own e-commerce site, the 900MHz version of OpenMoko's Neo FreeRunner Linux phone has sold out, but don't despair yet as more are on the way.

The 900MHz GSM model of the phone will appeal of geographies, including Australia, where that spectrum is used.

In the US the 850MHz frequency is more popular.

OpenMoko founder Sean Moss-Pultz refused to release details of how many 900MHz units were produced and sold, but was pleased with the popularity of the new phone, saying people from "all over" are purchasing them.

"[Sales are] still more concentrated in Europe and North America," Moss-Pultz said.

He said the sell out is only temporary.

When asked when they be in stock and on sale again, Moss-Pultz said "I think within a few weeks".

"I'm traveling now, so I'm not 100 percent for sure."

So stay tuned Linux people surrounded by 900MHz GSM broadcasts, the OpenMoko will be back soon.

HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer

The HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer is a great device that fits perfectly into my fast paced and mobile lifestyle. My first impression of the printer itself was how incredibly compact and sleek the device was.

Wireless printing from my iPhone was also a handy feature, the whole experience was quick and seamless with no setup requirements - accessed through the default iOS printing menu options.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
