Fortinet Grows New Zealand Team to Enhance Partner Training Support

 • 22 July, 2008 16:53

Fortinet® - the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced further growth in New Zealand, with the appointment of a new systems engineer based in their Auckland office, and the scheduling of additional local sales training courses to be held as part of Fortinet’s FortiPartner™ channel program.

Fortinet has grown rapidly in both New Zealand and Australia in 2008. As part of the expansion, Jack Chan has been appointed as senior systems engineer. With eight years of IT security industry experience, Mr. Chan has worked for Accenture, Unisys and Fortinet, based previously in its Hong Kong office. Now, relocated to Auckland, Mr. Chan will be responsible for providing presales support to Fortinet’s channel partners, helping them to design and sell UTM solutions. Mr. Chan will also provide ongoing sales training programs to New Zealand-based FortiPartner members, with courses being held regularly from September 2008.

Charles Cote, regional director for Fortinet Australia and New Zealand commented, “New Zealand businesses are demanding smarter, faster and less expensive ways of securing their networks. Fortinet’s UTM appliances are easy to install and support, and are able to dramatically simplify security deployments while protecting businesses from blended, multi-faceted threats. Jack is one of Fortinet’s top engineers, and a certified Fortinet trainer, so we are confident that he will be able to help our New Zealand channel partners to grow even faster.”

The FortiPartner program aims to provide resellers with effective sales and marketing programs, training and the support services needed to enable their business success. The FortiPartner program is tiered into Platinum, Gold and Silver levels, based on revenue attainment and training. There are now more than 70 FortiPartner members across Australia and New Zealand. Fortinet is looking to add another 30 resellers to the program by the end of 2008.

Fortinet’s flagship product line, the FortiGate® multi-threat security appliance, is distributed in New Zealand by Distribution Central and Ingram Micro.

FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security appliances that integrate essential security applications such as antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam and traffic shaping. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard Network, which helps provide protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic and more - around the clock and around the world.
