3 Mobile launches plans targeted at iPhone 3G owners

Upstages rumoured iPhone launch by Virgin

Three today announced new mobile plans designed to draw customers away from competing iPhone 3G carriers.

Although the Hutchison-owned telco doesn't have a license to sell the iPhone, it is encouraging iPhone 3G owners who have unlocked their phones to switch to Three. The new plans, available on Monday August 4, are competitively priced with a high priority on generous data allowances in an effort to draw attention away from Optus plans and rumoured upcoming Virgin Mobile plans.

"Three's all about great voice and data value," said Noel Hamill, Director Sales, Marketing and Product with Three. "With the 3G SIM and Data Starter Kit we think Apple's 3G iPhone customers will be able to get more use of their iPhone on 3, with much more value to those living in our Broadband Zones."

The plans start at a $49 Cap with 1GB of Data allowance and $350 worth of calls. Three's highest cap is set at $199 with $2000 worth of monthly calls and 2GB of data allowance. All plans incur an additional usage fee of 10c per MB.

Currently, the only legal way to unlock an iPhone is to purchase a pre-paid phone under Optus and pay an additional $80 to unlock the phone for use on any carrier. Customers effectively pay $809 for the 8GB model and $929 for the 16GB model under this method.

Three's new mobile packages will be available on Monday August 4 from Three stores and dealers.

The HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer is a great device that fits perfectly into my fast paced and mobile lifestyle. My first impression of the printer itself was how incredibly compact and sleek the device was.

Wireless printing from my iPhone was also a handy feature, the whole experience was quick and seamless with no setup requirements - accessed through the default iOS printing menu options.

A smarter way to print for busy small business owners, combining speedy printing with scanning and copying, making it easier to produce high quality documents and images at a touch of a button.

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
