Woodside Deploys RSA enVision for security information and event management

 • 04 August, 2008 11:03

The RSA enVision platform collects and reports on security event-related activities in Woodside’s IT infrastructure

RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today announced that Woodside, Australia's largest publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company, has deployed the RSA enVision® platform to collect, monitor, analyse and report on security event-related activity throughout Woodside’s IT infrastructure.

Woodside conducted a pilot program of RSA enVision in 2007 which resulted in the initial installation of the platform in January 2008 to target access control and account management. RSA enVision provides clients such as Woodside the ability to analyse security event data in real time, for example threat management and network events. In addition it facilitates analysis and reporting on log data for security compliance monitoring. Using RSA enVision clients can easily track and report where service accounts are being used within the organisation, which assists the technology team’s ability to reset passwords, identify inactive accounts and accounts that are being misused. RSA enVision is also equally useful to clients as a troubleshooting tool.

“To truly secure sensitive network and data assets, organisations must have a complete view of activity surrounding all the data on the network,” commented Mark Pullen, Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand, RSA, The Security Division of EMC. “The RSA enVision platform provides clients such as Woodside with the ability to cover the strict security, compliance and regulatory requirements of the oil and gas industry with complete collection of all event data, including employee activities, access to customer and financial information, and suspect or denied access attempts from outside the network.”

The RSA enVision platform is engineered to collect All the Data™ necessary to effectively and efficiently maximise an organisation's security posture and to reduce the burden of compliance. It provides companies with a single, integrated 3-in-1 solution for providing comprehensive, reliable log management; simplifying compliance through automated auditing, monitoring, alerting and reporting; and enhancing security and risk mitigation. RSA enVision was also recently named in the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner's Q12008 Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).
