Media Alert: The world’s most advanced online infection kit coming to an end

<p>RSA, The Security Division of EMC, today released highlights from its July 2008 monthly online fraud report in which the RSA Anti-Fraud Command Centre (AFCC) has found evidence to suggest that Neosploit might be coming to an end due to financial problems with sustaining its fast-paced development.</p>
<p>Neosploit is currently the world’s most advanced online infection kit, sold on the Internet ‘underground’ to criminals. It exploits numerous system vulnerabilities and infects PCs worldwide with any type of malware, picking the most appropriate kind to exploit each PC’s individual pattern of vulnerabilities. Since a major release in April 2008, RSA’s AFCC had noticed an increase in Neosploit’s activity including new versions of the kit arriving approximately twice a month with new and improved features, enhanced support and the creation of an online forum for customers. Customer demand increased in tandem.</p>
<p>However, in mid-July 2008 RSA’s sources reported that the Neosploit organisation posted an “out of business” announcement, again mimicking the practices of legitimate businesses. The RSA AFCC thinks it likely that Neosploit was finding it difficult to sustain its customer acquisition rate and that its existing customers were not generating enough revenue to sustain the prior rate of development, so the Neosploit development team has been forced to abandon its project.</p>
<p>Whether or not Neosploit will actually cease its business, and whether or not it will return, is a question only time can answer. However, RSA has no doubt that when demand is high enough someone will step in and fulfil the need for a professional malware infection kit – Neosploit or not.</p>
