FrontRange Solutions extends USB security to Windows Vista® with DeviceWall 5.0

Award-winning solution protects security investment for future technology adoption
 • 09 September, 2008 11:29

FrontRange Solutions today announced the availability of DeviceWall 5.0, the latest version of its award-winning endpoint security solution. Key to the launch of DeviceWall 5.0 is the ability to extend the product’s USB control and data encryption capabilities to PCs running the Windows Vista operating system, giving security managers a single solution to manage security across heterogeneous environments.

Kevin J Smith, Vice President Products at FrontRange commented: “We are starting to see more and more companies introducing Windows Vista onto their corporate networks. As such, it is important they are able to apply the same security policies created for the rest of the estate to any new PCs that are purchased. By introducing support for Windows Vista with DeviceWall 5.0, FrontRange is ensuring that investments made in security today will continue to pay dividends as more Vista PCs are added to the network.”

DeviceWall 5.0 is the first product release since FrontRange Solutions acquired Centennial Software in April 2008. Earlier in the year, the product was awarded ‘Best Buy’ status by SC Magazine.

DeviceWall customer, Richard Thomas at Wyre Borough Council in the UK, purchased DeviceWall after a digital camera was accidentally infected the corporate network with a virus: “We were seriously inconvenienced when the virus spread onto our network,” he said. “We needed to ensure that, in future, we could be proactive rather than reactive – so that we could control and monitor the use of removable devices.”

DeviceWall provides single-screen administration of security policies that manage computer users’ access to all types of portable storage devices across the corporate network, giving the administrators the granularity to manage individual device types as well as powerful management reports to monitor device usage.

Pricing & Availability

DeviceWall 5.0 is available immediately, with prices for a 500-seat network costing AU $28.80 per PC. A free 30-day trial of DeviceWall can be downloaded from either <http:></http:> or <http:></http:> .
