New ShadowProtect version offers affordable disk-based backup and disaster recovery for small businesses

 • 17 October, 2008 11:45

SYDNEY, Oct 17. StorageCraft Technology Corporation, provider of innovative disk-based backup, disaster recovery, system migration, data protection and security solutions for servers, desktops and laptops, today announced it is releasing StorageCraft ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition™ 3.3, latest version of its award-winning line of disk-based backup and disaster recovery software.

Version 3.3 simplifies the complexity of backing up, restoring or migrating for small businesses that use Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS). The addition of hardware independent restore (HIR) features enables businesses to recover from a catastrophic failure quickly and easily.

“StorageCraft ShadowProtect is a key solution every time we sell any server, said Kurt Pollett, Managing Director of Australian reseller Secure Networks. It gives us and our customers total confidence that their system, data and databases are protected, and more importantly recoverable in real-time, without complex agents, options and additional modules.”

On top of special discounts for small business servers, StorageCraft is offering competitive upgrade pricing. Special pricing includes a discount for businesses using server versions of Acronis True Image and Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery that wish to buy StorageCraft ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition 3.3.

According to Greg Wyman, regional director of Asia Pacific for StorageCraft, most small businesses need to be able to protect their server and data, just as large enterprises do, but often they cannot afford the complex backup and recovery software, or the time it takes to implement such a system. StorageCraft ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition 3.3 is affordable, scalable, and has a simple interface with easy-to-follow wizards do not require hours or days of training to implement.

He said: “The ShadowProtect SBS Edition has been exceptionally successful in Australia as it delivers a single, integrated turnkey solution for backup, recovery and disaster recovery. Now our customers can protect their SBS Servers (including Exchange & SQL) every 15 minutes, restore files in seconds and Exchange mailboxes in minutes. If a disaster strikes, the complete system can be rebuilt to the same, totally different or even a virtual environment in minutes – delivering a powerful, reliable and exceptionally affordable solution for protecting their business.”

HIR Features Give Disaster Recovery and System Migration Flexibility

StorageCraft ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition 3.3 also gives small businesses the flexibility to restore or migrate their small business servers to another small business server environment – whether virtual or physical. This includes migrating from a physical machine to another physical machine (P2P), a physical to a virtual machine (P2V), a virtual machine to another virtual machine (V2V) or even from a virtual machine to a physical machine (V2P).

StorageCraft ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition 3.3 supports virtualisation solutions, such as VMware platforms and Microsoft Virtual Server, for quick and reliable disaster recovery, system migration and consolidation.

Additional Features

StorageCraft ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition 3.3 includes even more features to help small businesses simplify the process of protecting their systems and data. These include:
• Bootable recovery CD based on Windows Vista; includes automatic hardware detection and network support;
• New Verify Backup Image tool to ensure backup files are recoverable;
• Additional optical media support (CD-R/RW, DVD+-R/RW, Blu-ray R/RE—both single and dual layer);
