• 21 October, 2008 10:08

SYDNEY, Aust., – October 21, 2008 – Expand Networks, www.expand.com a leading provider of application acceleration solutions over the Wide Area Network (WAN), has today announced the launch of two new WAN Optimisation devices for the datacentre. The Expand 7930 Datacentre /Large Branch Office and 7940 Datacentre Accelerators are HP-based appliances and have been designed to provide additional hard drive redundancy and storage capacity to meet the demands of the increasing number of larger datacentre deployments.

The Expand 7930 and 7940 Accelerators have 512GB and 1TB storage respectively and RAID-5 (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) capabilities, to protect data from the loss of any one disk, to achieve greater levels of performance and complete redundancy in the datacentre. In addition, the 7930 and 7940 deliver up to 100 and 250 Mbps respectively of optimised throughput.

Stena Metall is one of Expand’s existing 3,500 customers around the world and has experienced the benefits of the 7900 Series Accelerators as IT Communications Manager, Olof Hultin explains:

“Simply deployed, the 7900 Series Accelerators have demonstrated the hard drive resilience and storage capacity needed to support our WAFS users. Such is the scale and flexibility of the products that we will be upgrading our datacentre from previous Expand Accelerators to the 7900 Series to enable us to support all WAFS users across our 50 sites in Europe.”

“The 7900 Series Accelerators have been developed to provide the performance guarantees and redundant capabilities needed of WAN Optimisation devices to address the demands of increasingly complex datacentre environments,” said Adam Davison, Corporate VP Sales and Marketing, Expand Networks. “In addition to the recent launch of our entry level Branch Office Accelerators, Expand Networks has a compelling portfolio of scalable WAN Optimisation appliances to support all sizes of business in their key IT initiatives such as consolidation, virtualisation and mobile communications.”

The 7930 and 7940 Accelerators are available from November 2008.

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
