Capacity and Performance of New Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CompactFlash Card Improves Digital Photography Experience

 • 10 December, 2008 22:09

Ideal combination of increased capacity and professional-level performance gives photographers more time to capture, manage and market images

Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products for digital media, today announced the Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CompactFlash® (CF) card. Lexar’s new memory card provides an ideal combination of increased capacity, professional-level performance and reliability. Designed for professional photographers and photo enthusiasts, this lightning-fast card is UDMA-enabled (Ultra Direct Memory Access), resulting in exceedingly fast performance.

Speed-rated at 300x, representing a minimum sustained write speed of 45MB per second, the new Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CF card dramatically reduces post-production time thanks to an improved card-to-computer transfer rate when working in conjunction with a UDMA-enabled device. In addition, the very high capacity of the card allows photographers to store more images and shoot for longer periods without interruption.

Daniel Linnet, professional photographer and winner of the 2008 NSW portrait photographer of the year comments on the launch; “Memory cards always fill up at the worst times and during a shoot the last thing I want to worry about is how much capacity I have left on my memory card. The ability to handle large volumes of images efficiently and reliably is paramount. The Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CF card has the ability to store twice as many photos on a single card, which means I spend less time swapping cards during a shoot and more time on creative art direction.”

Lexar Media’s Mathew Luu, Marketing Manager A/NZ and South Asia commented; “The introduction of higher megapixel DSLR cameras has resulted in larger image files, meaning photographers have to swap memory cards more frequently during a shoot. Professional photographers strive for the best resolution possible but do not want this to impact on the time restrictions they have to shoot a subject. Our new Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CompactFlash card allows photographers to store twice as many photos on a single memory card removing the need to worry about running out of memory during a shoot.”

When paired with a UDMA-enabled device, such as the Lexar Professional UDMA FireWire® 800 Reader or the Lexar Professional UDMA Dual-Slot USB Reader, the Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CF card significantly improves the digital imaging workflow by accelerating the download of captured images to a destination computer.

The Lexar Professional UDMA 16GB CF card includes a limited lifetime warranty, free dedicated technical support, and the full version of Lexar Image Rescue™ 3, Lexar’s award-winning image recovery software. In addition, customers who purchase a Lexar Professional 300x UDMA CF card are entitled to download a free six-month subscription to Corel® Painter™ Essentials 4 software, a popular application that allows users to transform their photos into paintings.

Availability and Pricing

The Lexar Professional UDMA 16GB CF card is available now for a suggested retail price of AU$422.90 / NZ$474.00 Additionally, Lexar Professional UDMA 16GB CF memory cards are available in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities.
