HP ProCurve Outpaces Networking Competition in Tough Times

 • 16 December, 2008 14:00

HP today announced that HP ProCurve experienced year-over-year worldwide revenue and port growth for the third calendar quarter of 2008 that greatly outpaced the growth rate of the networking industry, according to data from a quarterly report by market research firm Dell’Oro Group.(1)

According to Dell’Oro Group’s data, HP ProCurve achieved growth in worldwide port shipments that exceeded that of any other industry vendor. This growth occurred in a period that saw port shipments decline for a majority of vendors.

HP ProCurve grew worldwide switched Layer 2 through Layer 7 port shipments by 25.8 percent in the third calendar quarter of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007. The industry growth rate for this period was 6.6 percent.

Gurkirat Singh, HP ProCurve Country Manager South Pacific commented, “In the current uncertain business environment, business leaders are telling us that they are carefully examining new investments, and focusing on getting the most from their IT budgets. Australia and New Zealand businesses have been looking for a better deal, and lower running costs for their network, which has been a factor behind ProCurve’s rapid local growth. ProCurve solutions include lifetime hardware replacement warranties, free firmware upgrades, and easy to use management tools, allowing our customers to reduce both their upfront and ongoing networking, with typical cost savings of 25% to 50% achievable over the life of the network.”
