Allied Telesis Announces its First Green AT-9000/28 Layer 2 Gigabit Switch

The AT-9000/28 saves up to 30% in power, offers improved performance and incorporates ECO-switch technology!

<p>Chiasso, Switzerland Allied Telesis, a leading global provider of IP/Ethernet and IP Triple Play network products, today announced the AT-9000/28, the first of its low-power ECO range of products. The AT-9000/28 is an entry-level standalone Managed Layer 2 Gigabit switch with 24 copper Gigabit ports and 4 active copper Gigabit / SFP combo bays and is an improved and green replacement of the AT-9000/24 switch. It consumes 334 KWh* less power during the normal course of operations over a five-year period than the AT-9000/24, which it replaces.</p>
<p>With a highly integrated design, the switch uses the latest high density, small geometry silicon, ensuring fewer components that actually consume less power. When connected to an Ethernet cable, the device detects the cable length and drives less power through shorter cable lengths. The AT-9000/28 incorporates a highly efficient 83% internal power supply reducing the amount of heat generated whilst making the product more efficient.</p>
<p>The AT-9000/28 also has a unique ECO switch, a power toggle that automatically switches the product to low energy mode by turning off LEDs and other non-essential functions.</p>

<p>The AT-9000/28 has a number of benefits and offers 28 active ports, which enable the use of all 24 copper ports when the combo ports have active fibre uplinks. This reduces the overall cost per port during installation. The AT-9000/28 runs with a near silent operation as it only contains a single, small internal fan on the main chipset, thus being ideal for classrooms or retail. This switch is the first product from Allied Telesis's range offering ECO-Switch technology, allowing the user to run the switch efficiently in the lowest power mode possible with the push of a button.</p>
