Panasonic Australia has announced three new Blu-ray players, including the world's first portable Blu-ray player, the DMPB15. The three new players — the DMP-BD60, the DMP-BD80 and the DMP-B15 — feature a host of connectivity options and user-friendly features, including Panasonic’s VIERA CAST; this function allows users to access online content such as YouTube and Google’s Picasa Web Albums. The players come with SD memory card slots for photo browsing and AVCHD video playback.

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 and Panasonic DMP-BD80 perform 96KHz sampling and remastering of 48kHz lossless audio signals during playback. They also feature DivX compatibility, which allows users to playback downloaded DivX media files directly from their Blu-ray player via a USB drive. All three players also feature BD-Live, which allows users to connect to the Internet to download images, subtitles and other bonus content.

While the DMP-BD60 and DMP-BD80 adhere to traditional form factors, the Panasonic DMP-B15 features an inbuilt 8.9in LCD screen and is modelled after a picture frame. The included SD/SDHC card slot means it can double as a digital photo frame when you're not watching Blu-ray movies. Featuring an HDMI out port, it can also be connected to a regular television for viewing in the lounge room.

Sophie Barton, Panasonic Australia's DVD and Blu-ray product manager, said that the company was "excited to announce the launch of the world’s first portable Blu-ray player".

The DMP-BD60 and DMP-BD80 will be available at the end of April with recommended retail prices of $549 and $719, respectively. The portable DMP-B15 Blu-ray player will be available from mid-June with an RRP of $1319.
