<p>Perth, AUSTRALIA – 4 May 2009 – AARNet, Australia's Academic and Research Network, is demonstrating the OzIPortal at the EDUCAUSE Australasia Conference in Perth this week, where most delegates will see the world-leading technology in action for the first time.</p>
<p>The OzIPortal is a tiled display wall of computer screens, designed to provide a high-resolution, interactive display in real time.</p>
<p>The OzIPortal brings together ultra-resolution visualisation walls and high definition video collaboration technologies. The OzIPortal is a powerful new tool enabling collaborative research across great distances in real time with participants visually exploring massive data sets.</p>
<p>Guido Aben, Director of eResearch for AARNet, said, “The OzIPortal opens up a world of opportunities for collaboration by educators and researchers across international boundaries. It’s important that technology leaders in our higher education sector get to see the potential of ultrabroadband communications, because it represents the future of education and research.</p>
<p>“By providing the ability to share information and high-quality imagery in real time between local and overseas collaborators, the OzIPortal gives Australian educators the foundation for groundbreaking research and development.”</p>
<p>EDUCAUSE Australasia is the premier event for key decision makers managing knowledge technologies in tertiary education. EDUCAUSE Australasia is being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 3-6. The conference attracts senior decision makers from Information Technology, Teaching and Learning, Library and Knowledge Management.</p>
