Denon releases AH-NC600 noise-cancelling earphones

The audio company’s first foray into ear-buds with active noise-cancelling

Denon has released three new pairs of earphones, including the range-topping AH-NC600, which features active noise-cancelling technology that allegedly reduces background noise by 99 per cent.

Scheduled for a July release in the US — with no Australian availability information released yet — the new models have a design to increase comfort while reducing unwanted mechanical vibration. The earphones’ "Radial Cascade Damper" cuts down on microphonic noise from cable rustling, and four bundled pairs of earphone tips — including a pair of mouldable foam tips — are included with the earphones to aid with passive isolation.

The most important innovation with the Denon AH-NC600 earphones is the inclusion of a digital amplifier and active noise-cancellation circuits. This circuitry is able to perceive and process 99 per cent of ambient noise, and cancel it out through playing an inverse frequency through the earphones.

The headphones also feature Denon’s proprietary Compressed Audio Restorer technology, which has been seen before in the company’s high-end audio-visual receivers. This technology aims to restore the dynamic range and sound quality of compressed audio sources such as MP3 tracks played by a portable multimedia player..

The Denon AH-NC600 earphones will retail for $US199.
