MELBOURNE, Australia—May 27, 2009— NetApp will host an event tonight to celebrate its new Melbourne premises, where the Premier of Victoria, the Honourable John Brumby, and the Minister for Information and Communication Technology, the Honourable John Lenders, will be officially opening the new office.

The new NetApp office is located at 550 Bourke St, Melbourne, a new building known for its fully integrated approach to sustainability initiatives, commencing at building design, continuing through construction and operation of the building.

Peter O’Connor, Area Vice President for NetApp Australia and New Zealand, said, “We are very proud to have the company of the Premier and The Minister to officially open our office this evening. Their attendance is testament to the importance of the technology sector to the local economy, and the significance of a strong environmental strategy.

“At NetApp, we share in the global responsibility for protecting and preserving our environment today and for future generations by not only creating energy efficient products, but also by practicing good environmental stewardship.

“This includes working with customers to create energy-efficient data centres; implementing reduce, reuse, recycle programs within our own offices, running energy-management programs throughout all our facilities worldwide to manage power consumption, and options for employees to reduce their travel emissions through telecommuting.

“Choosing 550 Bourke Street as the location for our Melbourne office was the obvious choice when we needed new premises for our Melbourne operation. It allows us to focus on providing an outstanding experience for our customers, whilst maintaining our strong commitment to sustainability.”

The building has a 4.5 “Australian Building Greenhouse Rating” (ABGR) energy rating, which promotes low-energy consumption through highly efficient air conditioning, lighting and lift control systems. The double-glazed facade and special window design control heat loads and encourage natural light to penetrate the workplace.

The building has also been designed to achieve a 5 star rating in accordance with the Office Design Rating Tool from the Green Building Council of Australia.

The high ratings for both ABGR and Green Star are achieved by incorporating the following key components:

• Low energy demand through use of low energy consuming systems, including a Variable Air Volume air conditioning system incorporating economiser cycles, night purge, optimised scheduling, efficient chilled water vessels and high efficiency Variable Speed Drives.

• Efficient T5 office lighting, automatic light level control, multiple zone switching and motion detection.

• High standards in Indoor Environment Quality

• Minimum 3A rated water fixtures and fittings used throughout
Blackwater recycling plant producing a class “A” effluent for recycling back into toilet flushing and irrigation.

• In accordance with Green Star requirements, the use of recycled materials during construction, including the sole use of post consumer re use timber or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified timber.
