Kingston launches 256GB USB flash drive

DataTraveler 300 is world's biggest USB memory stick

Kingston today released the world's largest capacity USB memory stick: a flash drive with 256GB worth of storage.

According to Kingston, the Kingston DataTraveler 300 is available for sale in the UK, although product searches for both the device's name and part number - DT300/256GB - are at this point failing to turn up any live vendors.

The 70.68x16.9x21.99mm Kingston DataTraveler 300 includes the Password Traveler security software for Windows and enjoys claimed transfer rates of up to 20 MB/sec read and 10 MB/sec write, according to Kingston.

With a five-year manufacturer's warranty, the robust Kingston DataTraveler 300 has a capless design and enjoys 24-hour a day tech support, so the biggest danger to your data may be losing such a small device. And that would be a costly mistake: the Kingston DataTraveler 300 will sell for £665 inc VAT. At £2.60 per GB, this is considerably more expensive than an average USB memory device.

According to Kingston the DataTraveler 300 is enhanced for Windows Readyboost to give Windows Vista systems a performance boost.

Wireless printing from my iPhone was also a handy feature, the whole experience was quick and seamless with no setup requirements - accessed through the default iOS printing menu options.

A smarter way to print for busy small business owners, combining speedy printing with scanning and copying, making it easier to produce high quality documents and images at a touch of a button.

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
