Perth, Australia, August 31, 2009 - Unified messaging and communications service, mBox announced that the latest version of their iPhone application now incorporates push notification, a technology allowing iPhone and iPod touch users running the new Apple 3.0 firmware to receive mBox fax and voice notifications in real-time as instant alerts.

Notification messages can also play sound alerts and can update the badge on the mBox icon. These functions can be turned on and off by the user at any time. Push notification is a positive enhancement for the mBox unified messaging service as it improves the way mBox users receive fax and voice messages through their iPhone.

“Before the push notification service was available, users needed to launch the mBox application to check for new messages. It was inconvenient for users to keep checking for new faxes and voicemails” said mBox iPhone developer, Raal Goff. “With the new application, as soon as the fax or voicemail arrives, a notification is sent to your iPhone and you can view your fax or listen to your voicemail.”

Craig Steddy, mBox Product Manager said, “Our original iPhone application opened us up to a whole new market as a business - the mobile technology market. Business iPhone users have been able to use the mBox application to access fax and voice messages, without the use of a physical fax or voice machine. With new support for the Apple 3.0 firmware, push notification is a positive addition to our application and a further step forward in improving its functionality to benefit mBox users.”

The latest version of the mBox push notification application for iPhones and iTouch devices is now available free to download from the online Apple iTunes app store.
