TOSHIBA ANNOUNCES LIGHTEST SATELLITE NOTEBOOK TO RETAIL AND SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZE BUSINESSES

Toshiba Satellite M30 series first Toshiba notebooks pre-loaded with Microsoft® Office OneNote™ 2003 productivity software

Sydney, 14th November 2003 - Toshiba (Australia) Pty. Limited, Information Systems Division (ISD), has introduced the Satellite M30 Series of notebook PCs for the retail sector. The lightest Satellite series to date, they are designed for consumers and small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers demanding a sleek notebook that delivers advanced productivity features, multimedia capabilities and wireless connectivity.

A complete mobile tool for the SMB environment, the notebooks feature Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology offering wireless (Wi-Fi® 802.11b and optional Bluetooth network) connectivity and extended battery life. Weighing only 2.8kg, both are packaged in a slim silver chassis and feature a vivid 15.4 inch diagonal wide-screen display that is ideal for small-group multimedia presentations whether in the office or on the road.

“When we designed the Satellite M30 Series, we concentrated on how best to create a lightweight, wireless notebook PC that fits with the lifestyle of the small business professional at work and at home,” said Mark Whittard, National Marketing and Retail Business Manager, Toshiba ISD. “These products maximise the benefits of mobility by delivering the power and performance required to handle business and leisure applications.”

Productivity Benefits for the Small and Medium-Size Business User
The Satellite M30 is the first Toshiba notebook to include Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 – a digital note-taking program which will be pre-installed on all future Toshiba notebook and tablet PCs. With OneNote 2003, business users experience the flexibility of a traditional paper notebook allowing them to easily capture, organise, share and manage data for a powerful mobile experience. Notes can also be prioritised and even reused in other common business applications including Microsoft PowerPoint® and Microsoft Word.

Both models are also pre-installed with Toshiba ConfigFree™ software which allows easy control of communication devices and Wi-Fi connections. It enables the end user to find communications problems and create profiles for easy switching between locations and communication networks. This enables a reduction in an organisation’s overall support costs and enhances end-user productivity.

Multimedia Features for the Home
The Satellite M30 Series offers a rich multimedia feature-set ideal for the home environment. The wide screen, Harman/Kardon® stereo speakers and the NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX Go5200 graphics processing unit combine to allow users to experience advanced 3D imagery and stereo sound for DVD playback and gaming.
