Intelledox Takes Up the Green Challenge

 • 24 September, 2009 10:22

Assisting government and commercial enterprises to use less paper, less energy, and make every day business processes more environmentally friendly.

Canberra, Australia – 24 September 2009 – Leading automated document creation and output management solutions provider, Intelledox, today released a Green Paper addressing the practical ways that business can leverage Intelledox intelligent document assembly to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and reduce reliance on paper-based communications.

Businesses, government organizations and consumers are embracing the issue of climate change and developing programs to deal with it. IT units in organizations are being pressured to actively manage the environmental impact of their use of technology, and to actively seek solutions that reduce their carbon footprint. Many also realize the potential positive effect on their brand value from a strong public commitment to green initiatives.

Government and the corporate sector recognise the cost, inefficiency, and impact of reliance on paper-centric processes. The OECD for example reports that pulp and paper industry is the single largest consumer of water used in industrial activities in OECD countries, and is the third greatest industrial greenhouse gas emitter. Many enterprises have already made significant changes to reduce their paper use, and promote online services and exchange to their customers and partners, as they continue their drive to be more efficient and more environmentally responsible.

However, we believe these initiatives can go further, and reach deeper into everyday business processes. Delivering tools to streamline document-centric business processes, Intelledox can assist enterprises to step up their green initiatives, by streamlining document generation and assembly to make it simpler, faster, and significantly more efficient.

As outlined in the Company’s Green Paper, Intelledox aims to assist other companies in strengthening their environmental sustainability through the use of its document automation software, and provides the practical means to increase efficiency and reduce the amount of paper used within the organisations.

Also as part of the company’s focus on sustainability, Intelledox had assessed its level of carbon emissions during the 2007-08 financial year. The results, which included all three scopes of emissions according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, showed that Intelledox produced 83.6 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, some 19.6% below the average emission level of Australian small business (100 tonnes CO2e). This result is also much lower than the reporting threshold set by the Department of Climate Change at 125 kt CO2 equivalent.

This analysis, published on the Intelledox website, identified two main sources of emissions for Intelledox – electricity use and employee air travel. “As the leader of a small business operating in the IT sector, I take our responsibilities regarding carbon dioxide emissions and protection of the environment very seriously”, said Phillip Williamson, Chief Executive Officer of Intelledox. “I believe we have the duty to make a positive contribution to minimizing our carbon emissions. It not only benefits the environment, but also makes good business sense, allowing us to improve the efficiency of our operations’’, he continued.
