Princeton Softech Enhances ILM-Enabling Database Archiving Solution for Oracle Applications to be showcased at Oracle Open World Melbourne 6th-9th July

 • 01 July, 2004 09:35

Market Leader Provides New Capabilities for Storing Archived Oracle Applications Data to a Variety of Storage Alternatives.

Sydney, Australia – July 1st, 2004 – Princeton Softech, the market leader in database archiving, announced the general availability of Archive™ for Servers Oracle® Applications Edition 2.0.

The product will be showcased at Oracle Open World in Melbourne 6th –9th July 2004 and Oracle Open World Shanghai 19th-22nd July 2004.

This release expands support for Oracle Manufacturing, including Inventory (INV) and Work in Process (WIP) modules, and enhances Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) capabilities, further enabling companies to reduce the cost of data retention compliance by storing archived data to a variety of storage media. Release 2.0 also introduces Princeton Softech’s new Verification Engine™ and Archive Workbench™ to simplify the implementation process and provide advanced diagnostics for database archiving.

“Princeton Softech is committed to delivering on its objective to provide market-leading database archiving technology for mission-critical business applications, such as Oracle E-Business Suite,” said Vira Rowley, Princeton Softech Vice President for Asia Pacific. “Proven database archiving capabilities and expanded support for additional Oracle Applications modules ensure that companies can implement a consistent database archiving methodology across the enterprise.”

Essential to any ILM strategy, Archive for Servers Oracle Applications Edition 2.0 is a fully integrated, out-of-the-box database archiving solution that allows companies to cost-effectively manage and store structured data, based on its business value and access requirements.

Oracle customers can archive and remove precise sets of archived data from a production database and store that data in an active archive database for transparent access on demand. Over time, as the business value and access requirements change, the archived data can be moved to a more cost-effective storage alternative, including near-line on a file server, offline to tape, disk-based WORM device or long-term permanent storage, such as HP StorageWorks™, EMC Centera™ or NetApp NearStore™ with SnapLock™. The archived data remains easily accessible no matter where it is stored. Archived data can be restored to the active archive database or to a reporting database, as needed for compliance or audit purposes.

“Archive for Servers Oracle Applications Edition was easily implemented in our environment,” said Jon Dodd at AVX, a customer participant in Princeton Softech’s Early Access Program. “We have been able to maintain top performance of our Oracle Applications and ensure that our data is accessible for data retention compliance. In addition, we have deferred the expense of additional hardware to control increasing database growth.”

Archive for Servers Oracle Applications Edition 2.0 introduces new capabilities for ease of use and implementation. Princeton Softech’s Verification Engine provides automated installation and configuration checking, and enhanced system verification diagnostics, archive process diagnostics and Oracle patch and upgrade checking. These capabilities help companies to simplify the implementation process and manage complexities that may arise when installing patches or upgrading to a new version of Oracle Applications. During archive processing, the Archive Workbench reports the lifecycle of each archive process, including audits and summaries.

“As database growth continues to escalate and companies strive to reduce the cost of storage and data retention compliance, they will need to implement such strategies as information lifecycle management,” said Carolyn DiCenzo Vice President in Gartner Research. “Database archiving is one of the core elements for effective ILM, and any database archiving solution must provide the assurance of automated system verification and have the capabilities for storing archived data according to compliance requirements.”
