Internode overhauls ADSL broadband plans

Internode today launched new broadband plans

Last month Telstra revamped its BigPond broadband plans, and this month Internet service provider Internode has followed suit.

The ISP will offer fewer plans and raise the download speed of its entry-level broadband plan. A bundling discount will now be available when a broadband plan is paired with Internode's NodeLine telephone service. Internode has also introduced an unlimited ADSL Standard plan and new 200GB Extreme and NakedExtreme plans.

Internode’s new entry-level plan offers speeds of up to 1.5 megabits per second (Mbps), up from 256 kilobits per second, with a 5GB monthly download quota.

Like Telstra, Internode is heavily pushing bundled plans, with savings of $10 available when an ADSL plan is paired with Internode's NodeLine telephone service.

"We are giving people what they want, the fastest available ADSL service to their premises at their chosen price point," said Internode product manager Jim Kellett.

"These revisions give our customers greater choice without the complexity that previously existed. The introduction of bundles for broadband and telephony services reflects Internode stepping up to meet a broader range of our customers’ needs," Kellett said.

Internode's new NodeMobile and Easy ADSL plans count uploads in the monthly data limits, but all other plans do not meter uploads. The new plans won't affect existing Internode customers, unless they choose to upgrade.

In a few instances, the unbundled price of Internode services has increased slightly, though often hand in hand with a larger monthly data allowance. The prices of most low quota, unbundled plans have not changed.
