AAPT launches unlimited ADSL2+ plans

Aussie ISP won't throttle or cap users, and includes home phone line rental

Australian Internet service provider AAPT has launched the country's first residential ADSL2+ broadband plans without a download quota.

The ISP's "Entertainment Bundle" costs $99.95 per month and includes unlimited downloads, as well as home phone line rental. The plan also includes a music pack which allows users to download $50 worth of music from AAPT's In Song online music store. Once a user has exhausted their $50 of credit, additional songs can be purchased from the store for $1.19 each.

Despite offering music downloads, AAPT CEO Paul Broad told GoodGearGuide's sister publication, Computerworld, that the [[Artnid:336266|ISP didn't want to become a content provider|Computerworld: Content not king for all ISPs: AAPT. “We are a telco, an enabler, we are not experts on content,” Broad said. “We try to do the things we do well, and we create the environment for others to come along and provide the content."

The Entertainment Bundle includes a free wireless modem router, but users must sign up for a 24-month contract. The minimum cost of the bundle over the 24-month period is $2398.80.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
