Internode beefs up 'Extreme' broadband plans

ISP offers increased data, speeds and bundling deals

Australian Internet service provider (ISP) Internode has announced an overhaul of its Extreme ADSL2+ broadband plans, giving customers improved data quotas, increased ‘shaping’ speeds and more bundling opportunities.

Internode has unveiled the Home-Extreme-10 plan, which is bundled with a NodeLine phone service and includes 10GB monthly data and costs $29.95 per month. The bundling options extend across the Extreme range all the way up to the new Home-Extreme-240 plan, which includes 240GB of data per month for $139.95 when bundled with a NodeLine phone service.

Internode product manager Jim Kellett said that the ISP aimed to deliver extra value to potential and existing customers by introducing more broadband plans bundled with its NodeLine phone service. “There has been a strong response to the $10 monthly discount for customers who choose an eligible Internode broadband plan with an Internode NodeLine phone service,” he said.

Internode has also improved ‘shaping’ speeds (applied when customers exceed their monthly download quota) for the new Extreme and NakedExtreme plans. Shaped speeds have doubled to 128 kilobits per second on Home plans and 512Kbps on SOHO plans. Customers can still purchase data blocks when they exceed their download quotas and will receive value points. There are a range of data block options that top out at 50GB for $50.

“Our existing customers can simply use the online plan changer at www.internode.on.net to access the new plans -- we encourage our customers to regularly review their current plans to make sure they best fit their needs,” Kellett said.

Higher data quotas have been added to the NakedExtreme ADSL2+ range, which eliminates the need for a traditional phone service. A new entry-level plan has also been added, which includes 10GB of monthly data for $49.95 per month. Another Internode Naked ADSL service, Easy Naked, has also been upgraded with an extra 20GB of monthly data added. This $70-a-month plan now has a 70 GB monthly data quota.

Internode believes that it can deliver more cost-effective and high performing ADSL2+ services because the DSLAM equipment which it uses is owned and operated by the company.
