Infogrames takes OziSoft

Games distributor OziSoft has finally been brought under the umbrella of parent company Infogrames and will change its name to Infogrames Australia.

The software publishing giant has had a majority share in OziSoft since 1997, but only recently took full acquisition of the games distributor. OziSoft began in 1983 as an entertainment software distributor and during its history has also operated under the brand Sega-OziSoft, when Sega had a controlling share in the company. When Sega abandoned that share, the company reverted to its original name.

The distributor will this week change its name to Infogrames Australia, while OziSoft New Zealand will take on the Infogrames New Zealand mantle.

"We are anticipating big things from our Christmas line-up, which will reinforce our position as one of the leading games distributors in Australia and New Zealand," said Infogrames Australia managing director Gerard Noonan.
