MSI's Wind U160 notebook set to hit Aussie shores

Ultra-slim MSI Wind U160 netbook to go on sale in late May

MSI has announced that its award-winning Wind U160 netbook will be available for purchase by Australian customers in late May.

The compact MSI Wind U160 netbook has a 10in screen and weighs 1kg. It’s powered by Intel’s Pine Trail platform, which includes the Intel Atom N450 processor. We first saw the Pine Trail platform in MSI’s Wind Millions Special Editoin U135 netbook. The new netbook boasts an impressive nine hours of battery life and will retail for $699.

MSI Notebook Marketing Director Sam Chern believes that Australian notebook lovers will purchase the Wind U160 as it is, “a hi-tech, high-fashion product of MSI’s outstanding craftsmanship” available for a low price.

The laptop’s casing features MSI’s colour-film-print (CFP) technology, which MSI claims is scratch-resistant and is available in Fancy Gold or Jet Black colours. The notebook also has MSI’s chiclet keyboard, which provides a larger space for typing and is also designed to reduce the sound of key presses.

Users can switch between different power modes at the press of a button to conserve battery life. The Wind U160 features an LED-backlit, 10.1in screen that has a response time of 8ms. The netbook comes with built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and optional mobile broadband connectivity.
