Halo: Reach beta to deliver new modes in 16-day test period

The Halo: Reach multiplayer beta will start on Monday, and Microsoft has revealed some of the details surrounding the launch. While the beta will conclude rather quickly--it's scheduled to end on May 19, Bungie is going to cram the limited testing window with plenty of updates. The beta will begin with three modes " "Free-for-All," "Grab Bag", and "Arena," the latter of which is an all-new mode that includes 4 vs. 4 ranked Team Slayer Rules. On May 7, Bungie will deliver the first additional mode in the form of "Invasion," a larger-scale mode that pits Spartans against Elites. A week later, the last new mode will roll out, as Bungie brings the "Generator Defense" mode to the beta.

Microsoft is also rolling out a few bonuses for beta players, as a video preview starring actress and Halo fan Aisha Tyler will be available to owners of Halo 3: ODST (all of whom are automatically granted access to the beta). The company is hoping to encourage everyone with access to try the beta at least once, as all players will earn a Halo: Reach hoodie for their avatar by checking their Reach stats in the Halo Waypoint information hub after completing a match.

If you're hoping to get in on the beta action without ODST, keep it tuned to GamePro's Twitter account as we begin to choose followers to join the fun starting tomorrow.
