Free Red Dead Redemption DLC coming

Free-to-download co-op game play coming to Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar Games today announced a co-op multiplayer mission pack for its upcoming western adventure game Red Dead Redemption. Entitled 'Outlaws To The End', the mission pack will be completely free and is slated to appear on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network sometime in June.

Outlaws To The End will take the game’s free-roaming Open World mode and inject it with mission-based co-op gameplay. “We felt the [Open World] experience would not be complete without co-op game play,” explained Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “With these missions, we wanted to create new ways for players to share in the experience of engaging with this amazing landscape.”

The press release only details three of the six available missions. ‘Walton's Gold’ has players fighting through a mining camp to grab as much gold as they can carry before the place blows. ‘The River’ puts players on a raft going down river while shooting at rebel encampments.

Lastly, ‘Ammunition’ pits players against the Mexican Army in the town of Tesoro Azul in what sounds like a siege -- but it's not clear from the press release if the Mexican Army holds the town and you're conducting a siege or if they've got the town under siege and you're trying to break it. Either way, it sounds like a good excuse for a shootout.

Red Dead Redemption is out May 18.
