The upcoming two-film finale to the Harry Potter saga will have two video game adaptations, and to represent the change in tone for the movies, the video game versions of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will feature more action and a darker tone.

With the magician hero taking the fight against Voldemort's evil army outside the hallowed halls of Hogwarts, the next game in the Harry Potter video game franchise will see a major change from the adventure titles released over the last decade. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 -- which will release alongside the film this fall for the Nintendo DS, mobile phones, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 -- will be "a darker and more action-oriented game" than previous Potter projects, according to Jonathan Bunney, the vice-president of developer EA Bright Lights.

Deadly Hallows definitely features a grittier look, and the cover-based gameplay indicated in the imagery has had the GamePro office quickly dub this game "Gears of Hogwarts." What do you think of Potter's new action focus?

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
