Yakuza 4 confirmed for 2011 U.S. release

Sega's Yakuza series has always had a long wait between each game's Japan release and the eventual U.S. translation. The first game in the series took nine months, with each subsequent release taking over a year to come to the states. The last game was mired in a bit of mystery, as early rumors had the game pegged as a Japan exclusive before Sega decided to bring it across the sea. When it did arrive, however, significant cuts to the game's more Japanese content were made.

The latest iteration (Yakuza 4) released back in March for the PlayStation 3 in Japan was confirmed for a U.S. release today, though once again, players will have to wait awhile. While not providing an official release date, Sega has pegged the title to ship in the second quarter of 2011, meaning the game won't land in the U.S. until April 1, 2011 at the earliest and June 31, 2011 at the latest.

Hopefully, the long lead time for Yakuza 4 will allow as much of the game's original Japanese feel to remain intact for the final release, as the game has already received stellar reviews overseas (according to 1UP).
