Motorola, RIM settle lawsuits

All pending litigation will be dropped under the pact

Motorola and Research in Motion have come to a settlement that will end all pending litigation between them, the companies announced Friday.

The long-term agreement involves standards such as 2G, 3G, 4G and 802.11, as well as wireless e-mail, according to a brief statement. Motorola and RIM will also give each other certain patents.

In addition, Motorola will receive an undisclosed payment and ongoing royalties, according to the statement. No other details were immediately available.

A patent-infringement complaint Motorola filed against RIM earlier this year with the U.S. International Trade Commission is apparently among the legal entanglements that will be settled under the pact.

The patents in question related to areas including Wi-Fi access, power management and user interface technology.

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
