HTC Ace could be Desire HD

HTC's rumoured Ace Android smartphone could be launched as the Desire HD.

Now that the iPhone 4 has finally been released in Australia, we can turn our attention back to the Android platform. An exciting rumour doing the rounds at the moment concerns the HTC Ace, the apparent successor to the popular HTC Desire smartphone.

UberGizmo reports that HTC's rumoured Ace and Vision smartphones may be launched as the Desire HD and the Desire Z respectively, citing an alleged screenshot from a Vodafone inventory system in Germany.

The list of rumoured specifications for the HTC Desire HD is as follows:

4.3in display (no word on screen technology used)

8-megapixel camera

720p video recording

1GHz Snapdragon processor

4GB internal memory

Aluminium unibody design

Android 2.2 Froyo

The most interesting feature in this list is the aluminium unibody design, similar to HTC's Legend smartphone, which is currently sold through Vodafone in Australia. The Legend's case is carved from a single block of aluminium.

No word on a potential release date or announcement from HTC as yet, so sit tight!
