Samsung has released a teaser video showing off its upcoming tablet device that is set to challenge the Apple iPad.

Revealed on a dedicated Samsung Web site, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will run the Android operating system and will be one of the first mass market tablet devices that will compete with Apple's iPad.

The teaser video is light on details, but what we do know is that the device will ship with a 7in touchscreen display, 3G connectivity, the latest 2.2 "Froyo" version of Android and a built-in camera. The Android OS on the Galaxy Tab is likely to be skinned with Samsung's TouchWIZ UI, as seen on the popular Samsung Galaxy S smartphone.

Earlier this week, a video of what appears to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab was uploaded to YouTube. The tablet was spotted on a Sydney train and was secretly recorded by a curious observer. CityRail is useful for something after all. Check out the video below:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be launched at the IFA consumer electronics show on 2 September.
