Apple TV Hackers Produce a Weather App

It’s been less than a day since the Apple TV was actually hacked, but already a user has come up with a custom weather app.

Well, that didn't take long! Earlier this week, GeekTech reported that the new Apple TV can officially be hacked, and already an app has been tested on the device. A small software company names Nito TV posted an image on its Twitter feed displaying the Apple TV running a simple custom weather app.

The company used the newly released PwnageTool 4.1 jailbreak hack previously just for use on iPhones. Mind you, this is a different jailbreak method than was previously used to jailbreak the Apple TV earlier this week. NitoTV posted the ZIP file of the buildable Xcode project for everyone else to download, or maybe base their own apps off it, so if you have a Mac with Xcode installed, you can hack away!.

This weather app is a pretty humble app hack--check out the random cities it's pulling--but it gives us a taste of what may be possible on the now-jailbroken Apple TV. We look forward to seeing what others in the iOS jailbreak community come up with!

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.

I’d recommend a Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 and the new Windows 10 to anyone who needs to get serious work done (before you kick back on your couch with your favourite Netflix show.)
