BMC and Cisco have teamed up to address the multi-tenancy cloud market. The two companies have agreed to develop software to simplify the offerings made to service providers. As part of the deal, BMC and Cisco are set to introduce the Integrated Cloud Delivery Platform

The new partnership completes a busy couple of days for BMC. The company has also acquired database automation company GridApp as well as launching three new applications for the Salesforce market.

The Integrated Cloud Delivery Platform, has been designed to help cloud providers easily deploy end-to-end cloud services running on a cloud computing infrastructure that spans data center networks, computing systems, storage and applications.

Cisco's Unified Service Delivery solution with BMC's CLM capabilities to deliver breakthroughs in efficiency, time-to-market, service quality, reduced complexity and improved compliance.

The new product offers customers a range of new services including a 'one-click' provisioning of new cloud services; automated partitioning of multi-tenant cloud infrastructure; a 'self-service' cloud management portal for service providers to offer their customers, and simplified operations to ensure that the cloud service could be up and running quickly, claimed the companies.

Cisco and BMC have backed up the launch of the software by reaching an agreement on how to jointly market services, sales, testing and certification activities within the provision of cloud services.

The new platform has got the thumbs-up from service providers. Jose Luis Gamo, head of Cloud Vertical Business Unit for Telefnica, said"The Integrated Cloud Delivery Platform gives us the tools for optimising, provisioning and management of Telefnica Cloud Services, and brings new levels of automation to cloud service delivery," while Jose Antonio Lopez, global account vice president for Ericsson added that "Cisco and BMC have created a major innovation in cloud-based service delivery. The value of their highly secure network container cannot be underestimated. It serves as a key building block that significantly eliminates time consuming manual setup, integration and provisioning times commonly found in large-scale cloud service integration projects."

The acquisition of GridApp will beef-up BMC's Service Automation product range, allowing customers to automate labour-intensive database tasks such as configuration, provisioning and patching, said BMC. And the three new Saleforce applications: Change management, problem management and a configuration management database (CMDB) will add new functionality to to BMC ServiceDesk on Force.com.
