Telstra has announced it is offering free telephone calls and text messages to customers wishing to contact friends or relatives in Japan following the recent earthquake and tsunami.
The offer has been backdated from 6am Friday 11 March and will run to 6am on Friday 25 March. It applies to both Telstra customers calling Japan from their fixed-line home telephone or mobile phone, or sending text messages from a mobile phone.
All calls and text messages to Japan will still show up on a customers Telstra bill, but will be billed at zero dollars during the offer.
Telstra also announced it will make a $100,000 contribution to the Japanese Red Cross Society through the Telstra International Group.
