Telstra Smart-Touch preview: Telstra claims to have broken the $100 price barrier of Android smartphones with the launch of the Smart-Touch, a low-end, prepaid mobile phone

Telstra has unveiled the first Android smartphone that claims to break the $100 price barrier in Australia, the Telstra Smart-Touch.

Check out our roundup of the best budget Android phones, and read our reviews of other top Telstra Next G mobiles on prepaid.

The Telstra Smart-Touch runs the 2.1 version of Google's Android platform, has a 2.8in resistive touchscreen and features GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The Smart-Touch also has a 3.2-megapixel camera that doubles as a video recorder, along with an MP3 player and FM radio.

The Huawei IDEOS U8150 is currently the cheapest Android phone sold in Australia, but its $99 price tag only applies to customers who purchase online — the Telstra Smart-Touch will be sold both online and through Telstra stores and dealers.

Though the Telstra Smart-Touch will clearly offer plenty of bang for buck, we are keen to put its resistive screen to the test. Resistive touch screen phones are known to be much less responsive than capacitive touch screens, and this often negatively affects the user experience.

The Telstra Smart-Touch Android phone will be available from March 22 for $99, and is exclusive to Telstra.

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.
