Vodafone today announced that Nokia's C7 smartphone is now available in Australia, and will offer customers who purchase the phone free apps from Nokia's Ovi Store until 31 May.
The Nokia C7 is a slim smartphone that boasts a full stainless steel body. It runs the latest version of the Nokia's Symbian operating system, Symbian^3.
The Nokia C7 smartphone has a 3.5in AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, and also utilises a ClearBlack Display (CBD). Nokia claims the CBD offers above-average contrast and has a polarising filter that cuts out the reflections that interfere with legibility. The company also states that the CBD will offer much better performance for use in direct sunlight, and that it is also more power efficient.
The CBD will compete with the "Super AMOLED" display used on the Samsung Galaxy S and the IPS "retina" display seen on the Apple iPhone 4, but its resolution of 640x360 is lower than both of these competitors.
The Nokia C7's features include an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, 720p HD video recording and 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD card slot that will accept cards up to 32GB in size. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity are all included. The Nokia C7 will also ship with Nokia's Ovi Maps application which provides free full turn-by-turn navigation for the lifetime of the device.
Vodafone customers who purchase the Nokia C7 will also have access to free applications from Nokia's Ovi Store from 4 April until 31 May. The offer applies only to applications purchased on the Nokia Ovi Store, so standard prices will apply for any application purchased outside of the store.
The Nokia C7 is available in charcoal black and frosty metal colours for $0 upfront on Vodafone's $29 cap over 24 months (total min cost $696), or $0 upfront on a $45 Vodafone Infinite plan over 24 months (total minimum cost $1080).
All Vodafone Infinite plans are available on both 12 and 24 month contracts and feature unlimited standard national calls made in Australia, unlimited text messages and unlimited social networking on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare and MySpace.
