Telstra will introduce unlimited text messages on a selection of its new mobile phone cap plans, which are set to be announced on March 29, according to Gizmodo.
Citing a "source within Telstra", Gizmodo says that current Telstra cap plans will cease to be available after March 28, when they will be replaced by the new plans called 'Freedom Connect'. The Freedom Connect plans will include unlimited SMS messages to any Australian mobile on all cap plans $59 per month and above.
A total of five Freedom Connect plans will be offered by Australia's largest telco — the cheapest plan will start at $49 per month for $450 worth of calls and text and 1GB of included data. All other plans will include unlimited texts, and are as follows:
$59 for $550 worth of calls and 1.5GB data
$79 for $800 worth of calls and 2GB data
$99 for $1200 worth of calls and 2.5GB data
$129 for unlimited calls and 3GB data
Both Vodafone and Optus offer unlimited text messaging on many of their mobile plans, but Telstra has traditionally strayed away from offering the same feature.
