Telstra will launch the Windows Phone 7-powered HTC HD7 smartphone in Australia on Tuesday 29 March.

Initially launched in the US and other markets in October last year, the HTC HD7 is undoubtedly the hero smartphone in the Windows Phone 7 range. It has a large 4.3in capacitive touchscreen, pitting itself against HTC's own Android-based Desire HD. The HTC HD7 also boasts 16GB of internal memory, and includes a convenient, flip-out kickstand on the rear, allowing users to comfortably watch multimedia content.

The HTC HD7 will be the second Windows Phone 7 smartphone sold by Telstra, sitting alongside the HTC 7 Mozart, and will be exclusively sold through Telstra for the life of the device.

Telstra will sell the HTC HD7 smartphone outright for $768, and it is also available on selected 24 month contracts.

Telstra customers who use the HTC HD7 can download paid apps from the Windows Marketplace and have them charged to their Telstra bill, though there is a limit of 20 apps per month that can be billed.
