To paraphrase, it doesn’t take the most powerful nations on earth to create the next global conflict—nope, just some skyscrapers-go-boom-now developers, channeling contemporary doomsayers.
Seriously though, the trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 looks less like a series of modern conflicts than an epic disaster flick just shy of something involving planet-devouring asteroids, Bruce Willis, and a Moonraker-style outer-space jaunt.
Have at it, then:
New York, London, Paris, Berlin—they’re all here and thoroughly savaged by the development team’s art and FX departments.
Things of interest in the trailer: Clip-tossing—just dramatic license, or will you be able to beg ammo from others? Subs? Speedboats? Underwater missions? Gatling-gunning in an AC-130 gunship? Some new “roll and toss a car just by pushing it” who-cares-about-physics feature?
Look for it November 8th, developed jointly by Activision rookie Sledgehammer and series doyen Infinity Ward. Or just wait a few weeks for a bazillion E3 2011 hands-on previews.
