Apple has launched its iWork suite of productivity apps for the iPhone and iPod touch, with the individual Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps costing $12.99 each from the Australian App Store. The apps, which were previously only available to iPad users, now work universally on the iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and 3rd and 4th generation iPod touch devices.

The apps have launched in Australia at the same time as the US, where they are priced at US$9.99 each. Each app is compatible with files created by its equivalent on the iWork suite for Mac, as well as Microsoft Office files from Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Apple's AirPrint wireless printing standard is also supported, although only a small range of HP printers like the HP Envy 100 are currently compatible.

Any customer who has previously purchased Pages, Numbers or Keynote for iPad will be able to download the apps on any other compatible iOS device for free.

The iPad-only iWork apps have been available since April 2010, when the tablet launched in Australia. The most recent releases work with any iOS device running software version 4.0 or later of the operating system.
