The Apple Store Penrith, which officially opened its doors this morning
Apple this morning lifted the curtains on its latest retail store in Penrith, complete with the usual array of modern design and overzealous cheering.
The Penrith Apple store is the 11th in Australia since the opening of the flagship Sydney City store three years ago, and the 331st store to open globally. Apple is planning to have 363 stores worldwide by the end of the fiscal year in 2011.
The store is much smaller than the flagship Sydney store on George Street, but there is still room for the usual hallmarks of an Apple Store — the genius bar, one-to-one personal training areas, workshops and even a space for kids to play.
All Apple products are available for demo and purchase, including the just-launched MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro, iMac, the iPad 2, the iPhone 4 and the entire iPod range. The store also sells a range of third-party accessories.
Over 50 people were already in the queue by 8am, and that figure increased to at least 200 by the time the store officially opened its doors at 9am. In the usual Apple tradition, customers were treated to an overzealous and lengthy applause by the Apple staff upon entry.
The Apple Store Penrith is located at Westfield Penrith, Shop 288-291, 569-595 High Street, Penrith, NSW 2750.
