Best smartphones of 2011

As the year draws to a close, we reveal the top five smartphones of 2011

1st place: Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Why: The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is without a doubt the best Android phone on the market right now and the best Android phone that's ever been released. It combines a gorgeous screen with slick software and super fast performance. The camera could use a boost in quality, and the low speaker volume is annoying but the Galaxy Nexus is the best all-round combination of design, performance and software. Whether its the strikingly large 4.65in Super AMOLED HD display, the comfortable "teardrop" design or the start of the show, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, most buyers will find plenty to love about the Galaxy Nexus. Without a doubt the best phone of 2011!
