Increased Data Protection Capabilities Adds Value to Sun Microsystems Product Line, Providing Customers a More Comprehensive Network-Computing Solution

Sydney, Australia – November 2, 2005 - BakBone Software® (TSX: BKB; PK: BKBO) a global provider of data protection software today announced a distribution agreement with ALSTOM IT, a leading distributor of information technology to the Australian Reseller Channel. ALSTOM IT will offer BakBone’s NetVault® data protection suite to complement its existing Sun product line.

With offices across Australia, ALSTOM IT is 100% channel focused and is the sole distributor for Sun Microsystems in Australia. ALSTOM IT distributes the Sun StorEdge product line which includes tape drives, library and disk products.

Tailored for highly data intensive applications, NetVault is fully certified across all Sun tape libraries and optimised to run on the Solaris platform, providing heterogeneous support for Linux, Windows, Macintosh and other Unix platforms. This collaboration also extends to joint go-to-market activities, combining regional field sales and engineer training with sales and marketing support programmes. The addition of NetVault to the ALSTOM IT enterprise solution portfolio provides ALSTOM IT’s channel partners with the ability to offer a leading enterprise-class backup and recovery solution to their end-users. In addition, an expanded portfolio provides ALSTOM IT’s resellers the ability to close more solution sales.

“Sun Microsystems is a very important component of our distribution business across Australia and by adding BakBone Software, we can provide our partners with a wider set of solutions for their customers. Management and security of data is key to the value added solutions we offer our Sun partners and BakBone software is a major player in this space,” said Greg Newham, general manager distribution at ALSTOM IT.

“Optimising data protection is integral to IT organisations today that continue to grapple with a wide range of issues stemming from explosive data growth, shrinking backup windows, and increased storage complexity,” said Victor Koshka, South Pacific territory manager for BakBone. “As storage administrators find themselves under increasing pressure to meet the demands of 24x7 data availability, NetVault delivers enterprise class functionality that scales to meet the needs of any sized environment without the ‘forklift’ upgrade required of competitive solutions. A unique combination of features including advanced disk-to-disk-to-tape (D2D2T) and heterogeneous Disaster Recovery, coupled with state of the art storage systems from SUN Microsystems and the distribution power of ALSTOM IT, makes this a “win-win” situation for BakBone and ALSTOM IT as well as our mutual customers.”

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
